________________________________________________________________________

League Basics

The official league play is on Wednesday’s at the Auburn Golf Course. We will begin play on March 11th at 4:45 PM for the month of March. We will change to 5 PM in April. The fee to join the league is $15.00. We have 4 tee times on both the front and the back (8 Total) every week beginning at 5:04 PM. To determine the order each group will tee off, we will draw cards at 4:55 for the foursomes that are there at that time. There is a group of us that tee off early (2:00 PM) every Wednesday and play 9 holes before the league begins. If you cannot make it on Wednesday’s you are welcome to play any other day and still belong to the league as long as you give your score cards to Lonnie directly or place them in our leagues box in the pro shop.

Auburn Golf Course greens fees are $36 for 18 holes and $24 for 9. If you purchase a “players card” for $60 the cost drop to 31$ for 18 and $21 for 9.  You can also get a discount on golf carts; 18 holes are $12.00 and $5.00 after 3:00 pm, per person for. All alcohol consumed on premises must be purchased from the clubhouse. This course seems to like us so let’s keep it that way and use proper “golf etiquette” while on the course. We play under USGA Rules during league play and we will play “summer” rules when the course changes from winter rules in May or June.  I will let you know.

MENS CLUB: If you join the men’s club for $85 (cash of check, $90 if by credit card) you can buy the players card for an additional $30.00. All before the end of March.  You will get 3 free rounds. 1 round before 5-15-15 of after 9-15-15.

They will be having email specials as well.  Make sure you’re signed up at pro shop.

HandicapsSouthend Golf Nuts Club

We have a program, which tracks our handicaps for the league. Only rounds played at the Auburn Golf Course will be counted towards your handicap. USGA GHIN cards are not valid for our league. We will carry over all handicaps from last year. Special note: the more rounds that are input into any handicapping system, the better the accuracy. If you don’t have an established handicap you will need a minimum of 3 rounds of 9 holes to establish one.

GHIN Cards

We no longer will be doing GHIN, if you want an “Official” USGA Handicap you will need to join the Auburn’s Men’s Club. NOTE: The GHIN handicaps will not be your official handicap for league. We will still use our existing system for league handicaps that has been utilized for the past few years.

Optional Competitions

SPECIAL NOTE: NONE OF THESE ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LEAGUE.

Closest to the pin (KP’s) for the year on all of the par threes ($5.00)

You must pay your entry fee prior to being eligible. Please mark all KP’s down on your scorecards. Give your scorecard to Lonnie or put it in our scorecard box in the clubhouse. Please highlight the KP and clearly note it on the card so it can’t possibly be missed!!! Only one KP can be won per person. In the event that an individual has two KP’s, the closest will be used as his or her KP. All KP’s will have to be witnessed by another league member to be considered.

Low Net for the year ($5.00) Two Divisions

Lowest score of the year (including handicap) in each division will be awarded at the end of the year tournament. The scores for those of us who play early will not be counted toward the “KP” or “Low Net” unless the round is to be used as “make up” missed week. You must stipulate a round as being a “make up” round PRIOR teeing off and must be heard/witnessed by another member of the league. We will pay out a first and second place for both divisions in this competition.

Hole in One ($1 per year)

You must pay your entry fee prior to being eligible. The cost is $1 per person per year. If someone gets a “hole in one” they get the pot. If no one wins, the pot is carried over to the following year. The pot is currently worth 686.00. You can pay for past years if not currently in on those years. The hole-in-one MUST be shot during league play and MUST be witnessed by another member of the South End Golf Nuts. No exceptions.

Match Play Rules 2017

•Tim Ditch will be running this year. All players must have 4 current year rounds in before they can participate.
All players will have to “play” into match play, except for the previous year’s winner and 2nd place player who receive an automatic exemption. The 30 players at stroke play with the lowest net score will be in.
•Order of play is determined by one player tossing a tee, whoever it points too determines, at his option if he or his opponent will go first. Whoever goes first will continue to tee first until he loses a hole.
•After the tee shot, whoever is farthest from the hole MUST play first no matter the position of the opponent’s ball. -IE- if one player is on the green and the other is off but the player on the green is farthest away from the hole then the player on the green must go first. If you play out of turn then your opponent has two options. 1) He can make you replay the shot from the same location, no penalty stroke or 2) he can let the shot that was played out of turn stand as is.
•Handicaps are determined as follows: if your handicap is a 5 and your opponent is a 10, the low handicap player goes to zero and the high handicap player goes to 5, so the higher handicap player will get strokes on the 5 hardest holes. If after you subtract the two handicaps you have a remainder of between .1 – .4 you round down, if it is between .5 – .9 you will round up to a full number. In other words… if a 7.3 plays a 9.9, 9.9-7.3 = 2.6, rounds to 3 strokes. The 7.3 goes off as scratch and the 9.9 gets a stroke on the three toughest holes
•Your handicap will be whatever it is at the time of the match, so they will vary from week to week.
•Each hole is like a mini match in itself. There are no carry over’s from the previous holes. -IE- if the first two holes are tied then player A wins the third hole player A is 1 up, not 3 up.
•A player may concede a hole at anytime, anywhere on the hole. Once conceded the hole is over and the player who conceded the hole loses that hole. You may give your opponent a putt, once given that player is deemed to have holed out and he adds one stroke to his score. –IE- if player A is laying 4 and is only a couple of inches from the hole and his opponent states “that’s good or pick it up” then player A’s score for the hole is 5. You can never pick up your own ball no matter how many strokes you have taken unless your opponent states the above or you concede the hole. If you think your heard your opponent say “it’s good” but you have any doubts ask your opponent for clarification.
•If a player is up more holes than are left to play then the match is over, -IE- player B is up 3 with 2 holes to go. The loser must exit the course immediately and wait at the bar! (Well I guess he can finish the round if he really wants to, but why? You loser)
•Dormie, this is when a player is up a certain number with only that many holes left (i.e. player A is up 3 with 3 holes to go, this means player B must win all 3 holes to tie.
•Ties, if after all 9 holes the players are tied then they shall go to the practice green and whoever had the honor on the 9th tee shall choose whether it will be a chip or putt and to which hole. The other player decides whether to go first or not. This is sudden death. Whoever is closest to the hole after one shot wins.
•This is a single elimination tournament; we have 32 players, 16 in the upper bracket and 16 in the lower. Positions will be determined by the play in scores; handicaps used will be as of the week of each match. We will play every other week opposite the team event. Each match must play head to head. If you cannot play on the Wednesday of the match then you need to make a time with your opponent and play head to head. We are expecting everyone to try and make time to play your opponent, on a different day, the next Wednesday during league, or with the early group that goes off. If the match cannot be rescheduled then the person who missed the match on the original day will lose the match if his opponent was available to play on the scheduled day.
•In match play, if a doubt or dispute arises between the players, a player may make a claim. If no duly authorized representative of the Committee is available within a reasonable time, the players must continue the match without delay. The Committee may consider a claim only if the player making the claim notifies his opponent (i) that he is making a claim, (ii) of the facts of the situation and (iii) that he wants a ruling. The claim must be made before any player in the match plays from the next teeing ground or, in the case of the last hole of the match, before all players in the match leave the putting green.
A later claim may not be considered by the Committee unless it is based on facts previously unknown to the player making the claim and he had been given wrong information (Rules 6-2a and 9) by an opponent.
Once the result of the match has been officially announced, a later claim may not be considered by the
Committee unless it is satisfied that the opponent knew he was giving wrong information.
•The penalty for a breach of a Rule in match play is loss of hole except when otherwise provided.
•Cost will be $5.00 per player and the prize fund will be paid as follows: 55% of the pot for winner, 30% for 2nd
and 15% for 3rd. There will be a playoff for 3rd place money between the 2nd place person in the upper and the 2nd place person in the lower bracket.
•The final match between the division winners will be an 18 hole match. This will mean that the match will not be decided on the first night and depending on the schedule it may not be decided the following week. Make the leader sleep on it; give the player who is down a chance to recover.

•SIDE BETS: Bet on who you think will be the winner of each match, rules as follows: 1) $5.00 2) Pick a winner of each and every match all the way through each bracket until you have one ultimate winner. 3) You will get one point for each correct pick you have. 4) The person with the most overall points wins 55% of the pot, 2nd place gets 30% and 3rd gets 15% of the pot. Any ties will split. 5) Yes you can bet on yourself.

Team Event ($30.00 per TEAM)

The team event consists of two league members (can be more) combining their scores against other teams to establish a win/loss record. The details of the team event will be established and administered by Lonnie. This competition will take place every other week beginning in May. If a team member misses play on a given Wednesday, they can make it up by the Monday prior to the next team competition (basically 12 days to make it up). If they are not able to make up the round they cannot win that point for the team but your score will be par, plus their handicap, plus a penalty of 50% of their handicap for calculating the score for the team point. If you participate in Team Event you automatically grant permission to distribute your phone number and email address to others participating in this event for contact purposes. NOTE: We will be holding a playoff in each division so 1st place will play 2nd place and the winner of that division will play the winner of the other division. Both losers will playoff for 3rd & 4th place.

2017 Auburn Cup Rules

2017 Auburn Cup Rules

Auburn cup consist of your best 3 front nine scores and your best back nine scores, so try and keep track of how many rounds you have completed for each nine, once we get into the season we will be posting to the web site how many rounds of each nine you have posted.

Once you have completed 3 rounds on either the front or back nine holes if you shoot a lower score then that score will replace one of the earlier higher scores. All scores are net, after handicaps. Final handicaps are used to figure out final scores.

The payouts are below. Entry fee is $10.00.
1st = 36% of total prize fund 2nd = 25% of total prize fund 3rd= 19% of total prize fund 4th=12% of total prize fund 5th = 8% of total prize fund

The competition is anticipated to begin in May and run thru August. You can use any score where you play your own ball except for match play because of concessions.

Bi-Weekly Competitions ($5 per week)

We will have Special events on weeks opposite team event weeks. Examples of the special events are but not limited to (Low Net, 2 man Scramble, 3 club night, Stymie, 2 man best ball etc.). There will be a list of these events on our website. Contact Lonnie for a list of competitions or print one off from our website. Since we will be playing both nines, we will be sending golfers off both the front and back that will be participating in the special events. Since the front nine is a par 35 and the back is a par 36 we will be subtracting one stroke from those who played the back to accommodate this difference. So make sure you are writing your scores down on the correct nine on the scorecard.

End of the Year TournamentGolf Nuts Club

The end of the year tournament is at???  The tentative date of the tournament is September 19th or 26th. You will need a minimum of 10 rounds of 9 holes to be eligible. The fee for the tournament is as follows:

$100.00 if paid by July 1st…..$110.00 if paid by August 1st …..$130.00 if paid by September 1st ………..If the fee is not paid by September 1st you will not be permitted to play in the tournament. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

2017 South End Golf Nuts Team Event Rules

South End Golf Nuts Team Event Rules-2017

The team competition will be scheduled every other week of league beginning approximately Wednesday, April 19th, depending on how many teams we have. We have two divisions. The “Palmer” division and the “Nicklaus” division. Upon completion of the final week of play the first place team from each division will play for 1st and 2nd overall. The second place teams from each division will play each other to determine 3rd & 4th place.

We will pay 1st thru 3rd place. Payout is 55% of pot to 1st place, 30% of the pot to 2nd and 15% to 3rd place.

Two man teams play head to head against other teams to establish a win-loss record. The scores from each player will be logged along with their handicaps and a final score is formulated. The higher handicap player from each team will go head to head for a point and the two lower handicap players from each team will go head to head for a point. If teammates have the same handicap on a given week, the teammate having the lower handicap for prior week’s play will remain in that position to determine who plays who head to head. There is also a point for whichever team has the lowest accumulative score over all so that means there are 3 points possible for each match. Teams are encouraged to play head to head against the team you are scheduled to play against. Your handicap is not rounded up or down.

If you are unable to play on the scheduled day of play, you must inform the other team and try and work out a different time and day to make up the match. All matches need to be made up before the beginning of the next matches, which are usually every other week. If you cannot make up the match there will be a penalty of 75% of the player’s handicap. –IE- if your handicap is 10 then there will be a 7.5 stroke penalty. So if par is 36 then this player’s net score is 43.5. You can win your head to head match, but you cannot win the overall points if you do not make up the match.

Someone from one of the teams needs to let me know which team won what points.

Teams with more than two players must inform to your opponent which players will play that week before competition begins. These players must be clearly marked on the scorecard. Players from previous week will be used if no notification is given or it is not noted on the scorecard. If two of a three person team is available to play, their scores must be used for that weeks team event.

Unlike league rules, the team competition has no maximum strokes that can be taken on a hole. If you shoot a 7 on a par 3, 7 will be used for the team score.

YOU MUST write “TEAM EVENT” on your score card for inclusion in the event. Any card not marked will be considered for handicap purposes only and will not count towards the team event_ _ _ _ _ _ _______ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
