League Basics

League Fee is $20.00. Official play is Wednesday’s at the Auburn Golf Course.

We begin official play on April 11th , 2018. For March you can play but none of the rounds will count unless you are trying to establish a handicap. This means no KP’S, no hole in one, no low net scores.

We have 4 tee times on both the front and the back (8 Total) every week beginning at 5:00 PM.

Draw cards at 4:50. Palmer & Nicklaus divisions will rotate each week between front and back.

Tee off early (2:00 PM). Early rounds do not count towards your handicap unless you declare it as a league round. We are a nine hole league “USGA Rules” during league play, except for winter rules. Course will post summer rules

League Website

Address is: www.golfnutsclub.com and you access the mobile version using the same web address from your smartphone.

Handicaps

We have a program, which tracks our handicaps for the league. Only rounds played at the Auburn Golf Course will be counted towards your league handicap. USGA GHIN cards are not valid for our league. If you want one need to join Auburn men’s club. We will carry over all handicaps from last year. Minimum of 3 current year rounds of 9 holes to establish a handicap. Then you can play in any of our weekly events or match play or team event. Double par is the maximum you can take on any hole except for team event, match play and other special events.

We will adjust all scores over double par Golf Nuts Club

GHIN Cards

Auburn players card  $60.00. 1 free round plus discounted green fees or in you join the men’s club price is $30.00. Men’s club is $95.00 if paid by credit card or $90.00 if pay by check or cash

Scorecard Reminder

Write as clearly as possible (for obvious reasons). Use first and last names on the cards not just first names (i.e. we have 4 John’s, 3 Scott’s,) Time and Date your card so I can differentiate between 2 and 5 o’clock rounds. Note whether the card is for a specific event or if simply for handicaps. If you’ve paid your $5 for the yearly KP competition & you get close to the hole, makes sure you clearly mark it on your card so I cannot miss it. If a score is to make up an event (Team Event, Match Play etc..), note the date of the event that the score is being made

up for (i.e. “for 5/16 team event”) MAKE SURE TWO PEOPLE ADD UP AND  SIGN THE CARD. I’m going to be a stickler about this as I’ve found many cards added incorrectly. If you play on a different day you can put your score card into the cigar box in the pro shop in cabinet under the golf gloves If you in the skins game you should have 2 separate cards to turn in.

Skins game, Mike Brooks or Chris Griggs

Optional weekly event. $3.00 Low score on a hole wins part of the pot. 50% of your posted handicap. If your handicap is .01-.05 then round down if .06-.09 then round up. Par three holes are closest to the hole. Please leave a tee where your shot ended up, but you MUST put the distance on your scorecard. Once a card is turned in, that is it. No last second amendments. Please circle it on the card. If you forget to write it on the card, then too bad so sad. No money for you. Please have someone verify the card and have the scorekeeper sign it. Pot is determined by how many holes were won. –IE- if there were only 5 holes won then the pot is divided by 5. There is a front and back skins game.

Restaurant InfoSouthend golf nuts handicaps

We will be staying at the golf course after the rounds. Please turn in your score card ASAP so we can figure out who won what. Greatly appreciate it. They are going to try and have

more specials.

End of the Year Tournament

It was decided at our league meeting that we are going to shut down the- league at the end of August instead of going into September. So tentatively we are going to shot for 8-25-2018 for the year end tourney. It was also decided that many of the league wanted to travel to a course and spend Friday night out of town. We will also make it within a decent driving distance for those who can’t get away on Friday. We will also set up a skins game on Friday the 24th. It was also decided to play at a better course even though we will have a smaller prize fund or depending on the course we may have to raise the fee from the current $100.00

2017 South End Golf Nuts Team Event Rules

South End Golf Nuts Team Event Rules-2017

The team competition will be scheduled every other week of league beginning approximately Wednesday, April 19th, depending on how many teams we have. We have two divisions. The “Palmer” division and the “Nicklaus” division. Upon completion of the final week of play the first place team from each division will play for 1st and 2nd overall. The second place teams from each division will play each other to determine 3rd & 4th place.

We will pay 1st thru 3rd place. Payout is 55% of pot to 1st place, 30% of the pot to 2nd and 15% to 3rd place.

Two man teams play head to head against other teams to establish a win-loss record. The scores from each player will be logged along with their handicaps and a final score is formulated. The higher handicap player from each team will go head to head for a point and the two lower handicap players from each team will go head to head for a point. If teammates have the same handicap on a given week, the teammate having the lower handicap for prior week’s play will remain in that position to determine who plays who head to head. There is also a point for whichever team has the lowest accumulative score over all so that means there are 3 points possible for each match. Teams are encouraged to play head to head against the team you are scheduled to play against. Your handicap is not rounded up or down.

If you are unable to play on the scheduled day of play, you must inform the other team and try and work out a different time and day to make up the match. All matches need to be made up before the beginning of the next matches, which are usually every other week. If you cannot make up the match there will be a penalty of 75% of the player’s handicap. –IE- if your handicap is 10 then there will be a 7.5 stroke penalty. So if par is 36 then this player’s net score is 43.5. You can win your head to head match, but you cannot win the overall points if you do not make up the match.

Someone from one of the teams needs to let me know which team won what points.

Teams with more than two players must inform to your opponent which players will play that week before competition begins. These players must be clearly marked on the scorecard. Players from previous week will be used if no notification is given or it is not noted on the scorecard. If two of a three person team is available to play, their scores must be used for that weeks team event.

Unlike league rules, the team competition has no maximum strokes that can be taken on a hole. If you shoot a 7 on a par 3, 7 will be used for the team score.

YOU MUST write “TEAM EVENT” on your score card for inclusion in the event. Any card not marked will be considered for handicap purposes only and will not count towards the team event_ _ _ _ _ _ _______ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

MATCH PLAY RULES-2015

View or Download PDF 2015 Match Play Rules1

Match Play Rules

• All players will have to “play” into match play, except for the previous year’s winner and 2nd place player who receive an automatic exemption. The 30 players at stroke play with the lowest net score will be in.

•Order of play is determined by one player tossing a tee, whoever it points too determines, at his option if he or his opponent will go first. Whoever goes first will continue to tee first until he loses a hole.

•After the tee shot, whoever is farthest from the hole MUST play first no matter the position of the opponent’s ball. -IE- if one player is on the green and the other is off but the player on the green is farthest away from the hole then the player on the green must go first. If you play out of turn then your opponent has two options. 1) He can make you replay the shot from the same location, no penalty stroke or 2) he can let the shot that was played out of turn stand as is.

•Handicaps are determined as follows: if your handicap is a 5 and your opponent is a 10, the low handicap player goes to zero and the high handicap player goes to 5, so he will get strokes on the 5 hardest holes. If after you subtract the two handicaps you have a remainder of between .1 – .5 you round down, if it is between .6 – .9 you will round up to a full number. In other words… if a 7.3 plays a 9.9, 9.9-7.3 = 2.6, rounds to 3 strokes. The 7.3 goes off as scratch and the 9.9 gets a stroke on the three toughest holes

•Your handicap will be whatever it is at the time of the match, so they will vary from week to week.

•Each hole is like a mini match in itself. There are no carry over’s from the previous holes.  -IE- if the first two holes are tied then player A wins the third hole player A is 1 up, not 3 up.

•A player may concede a hole at anytime, anywhere on the hole. Once conceded the hole is over and the player who conceded the hole loses that hole. You may give your opponent a putt, once given that player is deemed to have holed out and he adds one stroke to his score. –IE- if player A is laying 4 and is only a couple of inches from the hole and his opponent states “that’s good or pick it up” then player A’s score for the hole is 5. You can never pick up your own ball no matter how many strokes you have taken unless your opponent states the above or you concede the hole. If you think your heard your opponent say “it’s good” but you have any doubts ask your opponent for clarification.

•If a player is up more holes than are left to play then the match is over, -IE- player B is up 3 with 2 holes to go. The loser must exit the course immediately and wait at the bar! (Well I guess he can finish the round if he really wants to, but why? You loser)

•Dormie, this is when a player is up a certain number with only that many holes left (i.e. player A is up 3 with 3 holes to go, this means player B must win all 3 holes to tie.

•Ties, if after all 9 holes the players are tied then they shall go to the practice green and whoever had the honor on the 9th tee shall choose whether it will be a chip or putt and to which hole. The other player decides whether to go first or not. This is sudden death. Whoever is closest to the hole after one shot wins.

•This is a single elimination tournament; we have 32 players, 16 in the upper bracket and 16 in the lower. Positions will be determined by the play in; handicaps used will be as of the week of each match. We will play every other week opposite the team event. Each match must play head to head. If you cannot play on the Wednesday of the match then you need to make a time with your opponent and play head to head. We are expecting everyone to try and make time to play your opponent, on a different day, the next Wednesday during league, or with the early group that goes off. If the match cannot be rescheduled then the person who missed the match on the original day will lose the match.

•In match play, if a doubt or dispute arises between the players, a player may make a claim. If no duly authorized representative of the Committee is available within a reasonable time, the players must continue the match without delay. The Committee may consider a claim only if the player making the claim notifies his opponent (i) that he is making a claim, (ii) of the facts of the situation and (iii) that he wants a ruling. The claim must be made before any player in the match plays from the next teeing ground or, in the case of the last hole of the match, before all players in the match leave the putting green.

A later claim may not be considered by the Committee unless it is based on facts previously unknown to the player making the claim and he had been given wrong information (Rules 6-2a and 9) by an opponent.

Once the result of the match has been officially announced, a later claim may not be considered by the

Committee unless it is satisfied that the opponent knew he was giving wrong information.

•The penalty for a breach of a Rule in match play is loss of hole except when otherwise provided.

•Cost will be $5.00 per player and the prize fund will be paid as follows: $85.00 for winner, $45.00 for 2nd

and $35.00 for 3rd. There will be a playoff for 3rd place money between the 2nd place person in the upper and the 2nd place person in the lower bracket.

•The final match between the division winners will be an 18 hole match. This will mean that the match will not be decided on the first night and depending on the schedule it may not be decided the following week.  Make the leader sleep on it; give the player who is down a chance to recover.

•SIDE BETS: Bet on who you think will be the winner of each match, rules as follows: 1) $5.00 2) Pick a winner of each and every match all the way through each bracket until you have one ultimate winner. 3) You will get one point for each correct pick you have. 4) The person with the most overall points wins 60% of the pot, 2nd place gets 25% and 3rd gets 15% of the pot. Any ties will split. 5) Yes you can bet on yourself.
